All in Babies and a Business
There were cries coming from the backseat as I raced the clock through rush hour traffic. After battling through construction zones and multiple red lights, I made it to my meeting with my five week old son finally settling in for a car seat nap.
My baby arrived in late August. During our first week home together, the air turned crisp with the feeling that autumn was approaching. Summer was ending; a new season upon us.
The clock reads 3:30am. My hips are aching and I’m absolutely wired. Sleep is not in the cards, so I quietly prop up my pillows and hoist myself (and my enormous bump) into an upright position, trying not to disturb my husband’s restful slumber. I pull out my phone and start pinning crockpot freezer meals and surfing box-store websites for a deal on a chest freezer – because I’m wondering how on earth I am going to feed my family once baby #2 arrives. I am in full-on nesting mode, even in the middle of the night.
I remember the day I found out I was pregnant with my first child. Late that evening, I was curled up under the plush, white covers, glasses on and pen in hand, journaling about my reaction to the news. I felt as though I was embarking on a new adventure.
Early one day during the hustle of our morning routine I called out from the bathroom to my husband, Are you ready to be a dad of two?! as I looked down at the + sign on a home pregnancy test. The months following this moment have been beyond full.
