New Series! Raising Babies and a Business
Early one day during the hustle of our morning routine I called out from the bathroom to my husband, Are you ready to be a dad of two?! as I looked down at the + sign on a home pregnancy test. The months following this moment have been beyond full. I had just launched my business, started working one-on-one with other moms, pursuing business collaborations, and took on a new volunteer commitment, all while coordinating childcare and my husband’s increasing career demands, and the days kept on going with all the upkeep that life involves.
I absolutely love where I am in my career today and I have a clear vision for where I want to be, which has enabled me to be strategic throughout this second pregnancy. I’ve laid the groundwork for a new program (coming soon!) and partnerships to take my business to the next level. I’ve also built up my support network so I’m ready to maintain momentum while meeting increasing responsibilities at home.
As we get closer to celebrating my son's second birthday, the puzzle of career and life I’ve pieced together over the past two years is full. Right now it’s unimaginable that I’ll have room for anything more. But I have faith I’ll rearrange the pieces, or even expand the picture, to adapt to the change ahead.
When working with other moms, I challenge them to consider where they are and where they want to be in their careers. Answering these questions is the first step to take charge of your career when life demands so much.
I’m a believer in practicing what I teach. This new blog series is a way for me to maintain focus on moving from where I am to where I want to be as I make the transition to life as a second time mom who has a big career vision. There are so many moms out there going through their own unique transitions. Consider this series my contribution to the movement of #honestmotherhood.
Over the next year, I’ll blog about my journey going from life as a mom of one to a mom of two with a young, growing business on the go. Stay tuned for more on my story weaved together with career learning and advice I discover along the way.
